for a Certified Nursing Assistant (Mental Health Technician). The position is part of the Senior Behavioral Health unit, working nights on a PRN basis.
Job Description The Mental Health Technician (MHT) will assist with nursing care of patients within the Senior Behavioral Health unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include basic nursing care, assisting patients with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, and assisting with admission, provision of care, discharge, and transfer of patients. The role supports a patient-centered team, following individual treatment plans and attending to cultural, developmental, and mental status considerations.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
Required Certifications
Handle With Care Behavior Management System (HWC) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
Blood Glucose Monitoring Training Program Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
Required Licenses
Current CNA, EMT or LPN certification/license issued by the State of Wisconsin.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Skills
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Ability to work with several distractions, including light conversations.
Ability to handle aggressive, hostile, and irrational behaviors of patients.
Ability to respond immediately in crisis situations concerning patients and/or family members.
