Massasoit Community College has received funding from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center to expand its HVAC program with a focus on Heat Pump Training. The HVAC Learning and Development Specialist designs, delivers, and manages technical training programs to build the knowledge and skills of HVAC technicians, apprentices, and field service staff. This role ensures consistent, high-quality learning experiences aligned with industry standards, safety regulations, and organizational performance goals.

Key Responsibilities

Program Design & Delivery : Develop and facilitate HVAC training modules covering technical skills, troubleshooting, safety, and compliance. Implement hands‑on, classroom, and virtual training methods to meet diverse learner needs. Align curricula with national industry standards, licensing requirements, and best practices.

Apprenticeship & Workforce Development : Support apprenticeship and pre‑apprenticeship program implementation, ensuring participants gain industry‑recognized skills and credentials. Collaborate with employer partners, unions, and certifying bodies to strengthen training‑to‑employment pipelines.

Quality & Compliance : Ensure training content meets apprenticeship and state licensing requirements. Monitor participant progress, provide coaching and feedback, and document outcomes for grant compliance.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement : Partner with program coordinators, faculty, and employer representatives to align training with workforce needs. Collect and analyze feedback to update curricula and improve delivery methods. Maintain training equipment, labs, and instructional resources.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in HVAC Technology, Engineering, Education, or related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.

Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HVAC technician, trainer, or technical instructor.

Current HVAC license/certification (Journeyman or Master preferred).

Demonstrated knowledge of Division of Apprenticeship Standards, OSHA, EPA, and industry safety standards.

Strong instructional design, facilitation, and communication skills.

Preferred

Experience with adult learning methods and workforce development programs.

Additional Information

Position Status : Full‑time, grant‑funded, benefitted Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) position. Supported from June 2025 through June 2026; position will conclude upon completion of the grant.

Hours : 37.5 hours per week. Work may require occasional evening or weekend training sessions to meet program needs.

Salary : $69,821–$78,080 annually, commensurate with education and experience and based on the MCCC Classification Study.

Worksite : Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
