Postdoctoral Research Fellow
University of Michigan; Michigan Neuroscience Institute, Ann Arbor, Michigan, us, 48113
The Allada laboratory (alladalab.org) is seeking energetic and highly motivated individuals for open postdoctoral positions. The lab studies the molecular and circuit basis of sleep and its links to learning and memory and neurodegenerative disease (Flourakis et al, Cell, 2015; Braun et al., PNAS, 2018; Andreani et al., eLife, 2022). Our research incorporates a wide range of multidisciplinary approaches, including molecular (e.g., RNA sequencing, luminescence reporter imaging, proteomics), cellular (e.g, connectomics, optical imaging), and behavioral (e.g., in vivo neuronal activation, memory) in a range of models, including flies, mice, and humans. We are especially interested in individuals with experience in Drosophila, mouse or human neuronal models. Interested individuals should apply here: https://careers.umich.edu/job_detail/271287/research-fellow and include a brief statement of research interests, CV, and the names of three references.
Who We Are The Allada Lab investigates fundamental mechanisms of sleep and circadian rhythms and how their disruption contributes to neurodegenerative, neuropsychiatric, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Our work spans Drosophila, mouse, and human systems , combining high-throughput genetics, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, neurophysiology, and advanced computational approaches. The lab is embedded within the Michigan Neuroscience Institute (MNI) - a cross-campus research community founded in 1955 that unites more than 160 faculty to advance discovery across molecular, cellular, systems, and computational neuroscience. This environment provides exceptional opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, access to cutting-edge cores, and engagement with a vibrant neuroscience community.
