Job Summary The Certified LPN at North Mississippi Health Services plays a vital role in providing a wide variety of nursing functions to support the medical plan of care, adhering to hospital/departmental policies and procedures. Their responsibilities include patient care, documentation, teaching, and performing IV therapy, ensuring age-appropriate care and maintaining positive relations with patients, families, and medical staff. The LPN must possess problem‑solving skills to handle stressful situations and respond to changing patient needs effectively.
Patient Care
Provides a wide variety of nursing functions to support the medical plan of care in compliance with hospital/departmental policies and procedures. Documentation:
Assist in maintaining patient records through daily nursing summaries, Medicare charting, acute care charting, and accurate medication administration records.
Contributes to nursing care plan. Teaching:
Provides patient/family teaching necessary for continuing care during and after discharge. IV Therapy:
Performs IV therapy utilizing hospital guidelines.
Qualifications Education
Other (Experience) Must meet continuing education requirements as defined. Required
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Required
Licenses and Certifications
LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure
CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Maintains knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care
Must complete 24‑32 hours orientation MIS computer training.
Must organize and prioritize work assignments
Delegates assignments appropriately to nursing assistants
Assists new employees in their orientation.
Required to project positive image of the unit to all customers
Maintains a good working relationship with medical staff, unit personnel and all ancillary departments
Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills.
