Summary This role supports and advances patient care by applying engineering skills to healthcare IT needs. The position is consultative, providing education, quality control, implementation, and vendor management. Key objectives include project planning, equipment lifecycle analysis, and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Develop a 5‑year capital equipment plan for existing and new operations.

Perform needs analysis and assessment modeling.

Conduct cost/benefit, total cost of ownership (TCO), and return on investment (ROI) analyses.

Evaluate available technologies comparatively.

Monitor medical device hazards/recall reports and implement follow‑up corrective actions.

Review service options for major clinical systems to determine optimal service plans.

Monitor regulatory developments and implement compliance measures (TJC, DNV, State & Local).

Investigate incidents involving medical technology, perform root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA), and recommend corrective measures.

Conduct regular client surveys to assess perceived effectiveness of clinical engineering services, analyze results, and recommend service/process changes.

Implement process improvements that add value through quality, safety, savings, efficiency, and workplace environment enhancements.

Maintain a technical library and database containing critical information for device and system support.

Perform additional duties as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical or Clinical Engineering or related field.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in biomedical or clinical engineering and clinical systems support.

Strong written and verbal communication and team‑building skills.

Demonstrated project management and planning skills.

Certification (completed or in process) preferred in Clinical Engineering (e.g., Certified Clinical Engineer / CCE).

Required Competencies

Safety Requirements

Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with facility policies.

Follow OSHA guidelines regarding blood‑borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, radiation, sharp instruments, and hazardous liquids.

Have sensory ability to distinguish hot & cool temperatures, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and color perception.

Be able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds routinely.
