Overview The 50+ person growing studio is seeking a Job Captain with healthcare experience to join their growing collaborative firm! Mid-size Los Angeles Architecture + Interiors studio has received acclaim for its award-winning healthcare designs for clients including Kaiser Permanente, UCLA, UCI, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Note: Opportunity for fully remote available with occasional travel to job sites & critical meetings. Candidates must reside in Southern California.
Overall Responsibilities
Prepares design and construction documents and assists in architectural project solving
Job Responsibilities
Lead or design small project.
Involved with project communication and documentation, along with project team task assignments.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing to clients, consultants, vendors and staff
Proficient with office standards as it relates to project documentation
Assist in writing meeting minutes, change orders, RFI responses and professional correspondence
Estimate hours for assigned tasks and finish tasks within the agreed-upon budget hours for the task.
Proficient in the documentation of project design such as three-dimensional modeling, product, or material research.
May participate in the development of design.
Support design team and ensure that the design intent is followed through all phases.
Assist in development of project documents during all phases of the project.
Understand the organization of the contract documents.
Assist in organization and generation of working drawings.
Assist in the development of architectural graphic standards
Understand technical terminology of the architectural and construction industry.
Coordinate drawings with consultant drawings and specifications.
Apply building code concepts of accessibility, occupant loads, exit widths, fire rated walls and doors, ramps, stairs and handrails, and interior environment.
Prepare complex plans, elevations, and details under guidance of supervisor.
Understanding of basic construction systems of walls, roofs, doors, and windows.
Support the construction administration phase of a project by jobsite visits, assisting in review of submittals, shop drawings, response to RFIs, and preparation of instruction bulletins for changes.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of professional architectural experience, with senior-level job captain positions requiring 8+ years of demonstrated expertise in project management and team leadership.
Acute healthcare experience required for senior-level Job Captains; candidates with DSA or life sciences backgrounds will be considered for intermediate-level Job Captain roles
Good organizational skills and ability to work under own initiative
Responsive and dependable to meet deadlines
Excellent visual, verbal and written communications skills
Working knowledge of architectural graphic standards
Exceptional Revit and CAD skills
