Position Summary The Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to hire an intermittent Teaching Assistant Professor to support instruction in our microscopy laboratory course and in BIOL 395H during the Spring 2026 semester.
Responsibilities
Prepare hardware and samples for laboratory demonstrations and activities.
Deliver lessons that cover the course objectives as stated on the course syllabi, following the dates of the UNC -CH academic calendar.
Assess student learning through exams, projects, homework, or other assignments as specified in the course syllabi.
Provide help to students during scheduled office hours.
All activities will be done in coordination and collaboration with course faculty instructors.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Extensive graduate-level training in cell and molecular biology; practical experience with light microscopy; undergraduate teaching experience, including lab teaching.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
A PhD in the biological sciences or a related field of study.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements Must be able to operate a microscope and a desktop or laptop computer.
