Job Objective Under the direction of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Services Director, the CV Rad Tech Supervisor supervises Cardiovascular Radiology Technologists in the Cardiac Cath Lab and assists in developing policy, procedures, and protocols to meet applicable standards and regulations. The Supervisor facilitates professional development and education of Cath Lab staff and other cardiovascular team members, working closely with multidisciplinary team members to improve patient outcomes.
Knowledge
Working knowledge of vascular anatomy
Knowledge of coronary, peripheral, and cranial radiographic views needed to acquire images
Knowledge of contrast media and appropriate usage
Knowledge of radiation protection for personnel and patients
Knowledge of ancillary equipment including but not limited to IVUS, iFR, IABP, Impella
Knowledge of supplies used for angiographic and surgical procedures
Knowledge of sterile gowning/gloving, aseptic/asepsis techniques, and surgical instruments
Knowledge of patient documentation systems
Skills
Skilled in providing correct positioning for radiological imaging of patients for invasive procedures/surgery relative to patient’s condition and anatomy
Skilled to obtain and position appropriate radiographic views used in coronary, visceral, peripheral, and cerebral angiography
Skilled to assist physicians as scrub personnel during procedures
Skilled in documenting during cath lab/EP procedures
Time‑management skills in providing excellent patient care
Skilled in the safe and effective usage of all equipment necessary to provide patient care
Skilled in personnel management through coordination and cooperation
Excellent problem‑solving, time‑management, and organizational skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Abilities
Ability to operate the digital recorder and roadmap system
Ability to operate and position image detectors to achieve optimal images
Ability to operate the angiographic pressure injector
Ability to set up a sterile table/field for invasive and surgical procedures
Ability to remove arterial and venous sheaths under RN supervision
Ability to assist physician during procedure as scrub personnel
Ability to document procedure details in cath lab/EP documentation systems
Ability to plan and oversee an orientation program for new employees
Ability to assess and evaluate clinical performance of employees
Ability to instruct employees in care and operation of equipment pertinent to the clinical area
Ability to define problems by collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
Ability to display a willingness to work as a team player
Ability to communicate effectively while maintaining good working relationships with coworkers, managers, and other hospital staff
Ability to follow direction, accept, and utilize constructive criticism
Ability to prioritize and maintain organization of workflow
Ability to function effectively under pressure, stress, emotion, and physical conditions while meeting time parameters
Education and Experience
High School Diploma required
Experience
Five (5) years cath lab clinical experience preferred
Licensure and Certifications
Current CRT certification from the State of California, issued by the Department of Health Services, Radiologic Health Section
Current Fluoroscopy Permit from the State of California, Radiologic Health Section
Current AART certification, issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
