Part-time Faculty Chemistry Instructor

Montgomery College, Germantown Campus, is currently accepting applications for part-time faculty positions in the Chemistry Program. Applicants will be responsible for teaching and student support in a variety of chemistry courses.

Overview Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion.

Teaching Responsibilities

Teach lectures, discussion sections, and labs in Introductory Chemistry, Chemistry for Engineers, or Organic Chemistry.

Submit midterm and final grades through an electronic information management system.

Design and grade examinations and other graded work.

Enforce and adhere to laboratory safety regulations.

Teach no more than 11.5 equivalent semester hours (ESH) per semester and no more than 23 ESH per academic year (or 10 ESH for summer).

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Chemistry or an appropriate equivalent.

Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening, or weekend sections as needed.

Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.

Ability to teach in a multicultural setting.

Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence and willingness to contribute to the College’s strategic plan of inclusion.

Access to a personal computer with virus protection capable of connecting to the internet outside of the work location. Montgomery College provides an MC e‑mail account and access to the learning platform.

Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD degree in Chemistry.

At least one year experience teaching at the community college level.

Experience teaching college‑level chemistry courses.

Additional Information

Employability: must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).

Background check and degree verification (if applicable) required at the time of hire.

For degrees earned outside the U.S., a copy of the education equivalency assessment conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service must be included in the application.
