Purpose The Nursing Supervisor assumes responsibility and accountability for nursing services delivered to residents. Provides direct care, administers treatments and medications, organizes and distributes daily assignments to direct care staff consistent with each individual resident's comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care. Supervises direct care staff and makes decisions about resident care needs consistent with facility policies and procedures. Ensures that “Flow of Care” is followed.
Duties
Knowledge of geriatric and general chronic care nursing principles and ability to apply to resident specific circumstances.
Identifies, implements and evaluates appropriate objectives and interventions for residents.
Conducts daily compliance rounds on units at least beginning and end of shift to observe, examine or interview residents, verify information from ongoing shift, monitor regulatory compliance, determine staff assignments, and provide/receive report.
Monitors delivery of care and services to ensure needs are met, tasks are completed and that work of direct care staff is of acceptable quality and quantity.
Demonstrated competency in clinical skills needed for facility resident population.
Demonstrated competency in collecting data of physical, behavioral and functional ability of long‑term care residents.
Working knowledge of laws and regulations that influence provision of care and services in nursing facilities.
Working knowledge and ability to interpret and demonstrate facility policies and procedures to direct care staff.
Sufficient organizational and interpersonal skills to assign, motivate staff, elicit work output, improve quality and interact effectively with residents, families, interdisciplinary team members, administration, government officials, consultants and others.
Carries out all duties in accord with the facility mission and philosophy.
Demonstrates knowledge of and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of each resident in all interactions.
Appreciates the importance of maintaining confidentiality of resident and facility information.
Demonstrates honesty and integrity at all times in the care and use of resident and facility property.
Assumes responsibility and accountability for nursing services delivered to residents, provides direct care, administers treatments and medications, organizes and distributes daily assignments to direct care staff consistent with each individual resident's comprehensive resident assessment and plan of care.
Supervises direct care staff and makes decisions about resident care needs consistent with facility policies and procedures.
Ensures that “Flow of Care” is followed.
Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Must have a minimum of one year in LTC nursing management.
Must have a valid NJ nursing license.
Qualifications
Valid New Jersey RN license.
Minimum one year of LTC nursing management experience.
Knowledge of geriatric and general chronic care nursing principles.
Ability to conduct compliance rounds and monitor regulatory compliance.
Strong clinical skills and ability to interpret facility policies and procedures.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Demonstrated commitment to resident dignity, confidentiality and integrity.
