Monroe County Health Department is hiring a WIC Nutritionist to serve women, infants, and children enrolled in the WIC program. The position is a 36‑hour per week, part‑time, entry‑level role.
Responsibilities
Provide nutrition counseling and education to WIC participants.
Assess nutritional needs and develop individualized care plans.
Offer guidance on healthy eating, breastfeeding, and overall wellness.
Certify eligibility and promote positive nutrition behaviors.
Place referrals for community programs and resources; support public health goals to improve maternal and child health.
Determine and prescribe WIC food packages and breast pumps based on assessed needs and preferences; issue WIC benefits and document assessments and services.
Qualifications
Registered Dietitian (RD) license.
Minimum one year of experience as an RD.
Minimum one year of professional experience in public health, community nutrition, maternal‑child health, lactation, or nutrition.
Certification as a lactation counselor, lactation specialist, or lactation educator.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks within expected timeframes.
