Job Summary & Responsibilities As a Pharmacist, you will monitor, evaluate and make recommendations to assure the appropriate and effective use of pharmaceuticals for patient care. You will interact with patients and health‑care providers to define compliance with current standard practice and ensure continuity of services for desired patient outcomes.
Interpret medication orders and transcribe to the computer system.
Provide effective medication therapy.
Accurately compound and dispense pharmaceuticals.
Monitor drug‑therapy regimens for contraindications, drug‑drug interactions, drug‑food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose.
Suggest appropriate, cost‑effective therapeutic medication alternatives to medical staff.
Sustain the hospital formulary, minimizing non‑formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges, and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
Assist with clinical services such as drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO, renal dosing and other programs as defined by Pharmacy Leadership.
Complete notification reports regarding medication errors and adverse drug reactions.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
Previous hospital experience – preferred.
Post‑graduate Residency training – preferred.
Current Pharmacist license with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).
Sterile Products (IV) Certification through the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy or related discipline – preferred.
About the Facility St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center is a 200‑plus bed acute‑care facility located north of Austin, Texas. It features the only hybrid operating room in the county, a 24‑hour emergency department with a Level II trauma center, and leading‑edge cardiac care through the Heart Hospital of Austin at St. David’s Round Rock. Patients also receive care in rehabilitation, women’s services, cancer care, neurology, joint replacement, orthotics and more.
