Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring Level 1 ICU experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Position is within the PACU of a short‑term acute care, Magnet, teaching hospital
Day shift, 4x10s, Monday through Friday with rotating start times between 1200 and 2230
No weekend, holiday, or on‑call requirements
Unit consists of 38 bays and cares for an average daily census of 70‑90 patients
Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients in a Level I Trauma setting
Patient types include postoperative cases from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant surgeries (excluding open heart and liver transplants)
Critical care equipment in use includes artificial airways, invasive monitoring such as ICP, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs
Staff required to float within scope as needed
Documenting and charting is performed using Epic EMR; prior Epic experience required
Unit supported by dedicated PCT/transport team
Navy blue scrubs required
Provide postoperative care for a wide range of surgical patients, including management of critical care needs
Responsibilities include care for patients with invasive monitoring, artificial airways, and complex hemodynamic management
Unit is open 24/7 and operates with a high‑acuity, fast‑paced environment
First‑time travelers are accepted
No local candidates; must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
No more than 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13‑week contract, and no time off permitted during the first week of orientation
Permanent employees must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
Travelers can remain for up to 18 months before a mandatory 3‑month break
Pre‑employment modules must be completed with up to 16 hours compensated for orientation
Parking available for $15/day or $70/month
Requirements
Active MO or compact RN license required
Valid license must be present at time of consideration
BLS and ACLS certifications required
At least 2‑3 years of Level 1 ICU experience required
Strong critical care skills including dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting IVs, administering IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, and ventilator care
Epic EMR experience required
Experience in inpatient and Level I Trauma PACU settings required
Pending license accepted for consideration
