Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, Virginia, is hiring a
Clinical Infection Preventionist
to join our team.
In this role you are responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of site-specific infection prevention and control initiatives, and for the support of surveillance activities at the division and system level. Responsible for ensuring state, federal (i.e. Centers for Disease Control), regulatory and accreditation standards are met to include required communicable disease reporting. You will provide leadership and expertise to site-specific administrative and clinical staff leadership through rounding, staff education and training, and promotion of evidence-based/best practices to improve quality outcomes.
Position Available
Full-Time; 40 hours per week
There may be local travel and On Call
Education
Bachelor's degree. (Preferred from an accredited university or college with emphasis in nursing, clinical quality improvement, microbiology, epidemiology or related field)
License / Certification
Individuals who hold a license or certification are required to hold and maintain that credential.
Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (i.e. Certification in Infection Control, or CIC, preferred.
Required within one year of eligibility. )
Experience
Two (2) years in healthcare
Preferred two (2) years infection control and prevention
Expert knowledge of infection surveillance, prevention, and control standards and initiatives, as well as performance/process improvement concepts preferred.
Project management experience preferred.
