Position Overview: The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is responsible for providing high-quality patient care to individuals with complex medical needs. This role requires critical thinking and the ability to respond quickly to patient conditions. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Study patients' charts, medication regimens, and test results upon admission to the Progressive Care Unit. Track routine vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry measurements. Interpret measurements from specialized medical equipment and respond accordingly. Monitor and administer prescribed medications, performing titration of drug doses as necessary. Conduct diagnostic assessments in response to changes in patient measurements and implement designated interventions. Report deteriorating conditions to healthcare specialists and follow intervention instructions promptly. Update and maintain ward charts, patient files, and medical records to ensure accurate documentation. Oversee the work of Progressive Care Unit nursing assistants and support staff to ensure high standards of care. Explain treatments and procedures to patients and their families, providing clear answers to their questions. Job Requirements:

Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program. Experience: Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years. Requirements: COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory. License/Certification: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state or compact state; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required. Skills and Qualifications: Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
