Job Description American Traveler is seeking a PICU RN with at least 1.5 years of experience and current BLS, PALS, and NM or Compact RN license for a rotating shift position.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at a Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital
Typical ratio is 1:2 with critically ill pediatric patients
Rotating shifts required; either days or nights may be assigned during contract (4x12 or 3x12 hour shifts)
Must float within scope to NICU and may serve as a resource in the Peds ED for specific tasks without full assignment
Common diagnoses include respiratory and renal failure, trauma, multi-system organ failure, and heme/onc cases
Uses Cerner EMR system
No on-call required
Weekend requirement is 4 weekend shifts per schedule for days, 4-5 for nights
No staff within a 75-mile radius will be considered
Responsibilities include managing critically ill pediatric patients, supporting the team in NICU and as a resource in the Peds ED
Black scrubs required; not provided by facility
First-time travelers accepted
RTO over 7 days requires approval; no RTO first or last 7 days of the contract
Holiday PTO limited to one holiday bundle per traveler
Free parking available
Must provide a non-local Driver’s License or a written transportation plan if unavailable
Orientation modules required and completed during the first week
Drug screening required within 30 days of start
Perm staff may return as travelers if 12 months have passed since last employed
Requirements
Active NM or Compact RN license (current or pending)
Current BLS and PALS certifications required
Minimum 1.5 years of PICU RN experience required
Experience with CRRT, ECMO, vents, and inotropic drips is required
COVID-19 vaccination required, with accepted medical or religious exemptions upon provider-signed form
No RQI certifications accepted
