About the Position TravelNurseSource is partnering with Fusion Medical Staffing to locate a qualified Operating Room RN in Saginaw, Michigan (48607). This 13‑week travel assignment offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and support from a dedicated clinical team.

Required Qualifications

One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN

Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations

Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications

ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC), or ENPC certifications

OR Nursing Certification (CNOR)

Other certifications or licenses as may be required

Summary The Operating Room Registered Nurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout the perioperative process, ensuring safety and comfort during surgical procedures. Responsibilities include preparing the operating room, managing equipment, collaborating with the surgical team, maintaining a sterile field, and documenting patient care.

Essential Work Functions

Prepares the operating room, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each procedure.

Assists in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety.

Maintains a sterile field throughout surgery and adheres to infection control protocols.

Anticipates the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow.

Monitors the patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon.

Handles surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols.

Manages specimen collection, labeling, and transport, ensuring accurate diagnostic results.

Documents all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly.

Participates in patient handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases, ensuring continuity of care.

Assists in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols.

Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards.

Follows hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.

Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Physical abilities: stationary position, moving equipment (50‑100 lbs), pushing, pulling, bending.

Technical/motor skills: fine manipulation, push/pull, moving during procedures and equipment use.

Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with public, meet deadlines, work under close supervision, handle irregular schedules, continuous concentration to detail.

Sensory: visual acuity and effective communication.
