Who are we hiring? Senior Accountant
will be responsible for supporting MSG Entertainment Corporate Accounting department in day‑to‑day operations, as well as monthly and quarterly accounting close.
What will you do?
Ensure timely completion of public company month‑end closings for corporate accounting, including the preparation of journal entries for assigned accounting areas including but not limited to cash, fixed assets, payroll and benefits expense, operating expenses in accordance with the monthly closing calendar
Prepare accurate and detailed balance sheet account analysis as assigned.
Analyze Oracle financial reports, investigate underlying drivers’ variances and provide commentary on observed trends.
Review monthly operating results for Corporate Departments to ensure financials are complete and accurate.
Responsible for MSGE fixed asset process, including CAR review, monthly subledger close process and related financial reporting.
Assist with company‑wide utilization of financial systems to enhance accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
Support Corporate Accounting group with day‑to‑day activities.
Support system updates and conversions for general ledger and subledgers by recommending enhancements, validating desired expectations by performing tests in the development environment, and driving the successful roll‑out and implementation for the system after it goes live.
Liaise with various company departments including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Tax, External Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Legal, Investor Relations, IT and assistance cross‑functional work products.
Complete special projects in an accurate and timely manner, as assigned.
What do you need to succeed?
BS or BA preferred degree is Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
2+ related experience in a fast‑paced large company environment
Strong understanding of monthly close process
Familiarity with/interest in Fixed Assets and Technology transactions preferred.
CPA completion or in progress strongly preferred.
Heavy exposure to financial statements, account analyses and reconciliations
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced and challenging environment
Ability to interact with cross functional groups
Strong spreadsheet skills, as well as strong writing and communication skills
Ability to be flexible, work under pressure and meet deadlines
Willingness to work overtime as needed
Ability to evaluate processes and recommend/implement more efficient practices and procedures
