Role Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive ASD and related diagnostic evaluations using evidence‑based assessment tools and protocols.
Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests and observational measures appropriate for ASD and developmental disability evaluations.
Write detailed, clinically sound psychological evaluation reports that meet professional standards and regulatory requirements.
Deliver evaluation findings and recommendations to families, caregivers, and referring providers in a clear and compassionate manner.
Collaborate with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), RBTs, intake, and other KBH team members to ensure smooth care transitions from diagnostics to ABA services.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with KBH policies and professional standards.
Participate in clinical supervision with a Licensed Psychologist (LP) as required by North Carolina licensing regulations.
Travel to KBH clinic locations throughout the Triangle, Fayetteville, Wilmington, and Charlotte to conduct in‑person assessments.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Psychology from an accredited program, required.
1‑2 years clinical experience conducting psychological evaluations, preferably with ASD populations, required.
2+ years direct experience with autism diagnostic tools, required.
Active Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) credential in North Carolina, required.
Experience working in pediatric or developmental disability settings, required.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (approximately 25% of work time involves travel outside the diagnostician’s home market).
Technical Competencies
Proficiency in administering and interpreting standardized psychological and developmental assessment instruments.
Knowledge of DSM‑5‑TR diagnostic criteria, particularly for ASD and related neuro‑developmental conditions.
Competence with autism‑specific diagnostic tools (e.g., ADOS‑2, ADI‑R, M‑CHAT, SCQ).
Strong report‑writing skills with ability to synthesize assessment data into comprehensive, actionable reports.
Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and treatment approaches (preferred).
Electronic health record (EHR) and documentation systems proficiency.
Non‑Technical Competencies
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to explain complex clinical information to diverse audiences.
Cultural competency and sensitivity when working with families from varied backgrounds.
Compassion and empathy in delivering diagnostic feedback to families navigating challenging diagnoses.
Collaborative mindset with ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Professional judgment and ethical decision‑making in clinical practice.
Time management and organizational skills to balance assessment schedules, report writing, and travel demands.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in hybrid environments and adjust to varying clinic settings.
