Open Shifts 8-hour Day Shift and Afternoon Shift (no rotation)
Assignment Duration 13 weeks with possible extension or permanent employment offer
Compensation Up to $38/hour + Employee benefits
Job Summary Under limited supervision performs routine techniques on surgical, autopsy, and research tissue according to standardized procedures. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment required to perform analysis.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities – Minimum of 3 Years of Experience
Cut surgical, autopsy, research and neuropathology tissue using a rotary microtome
Embed surgical, autopsy, research, and neuropathology tissue
Stain, cover‑lip and label surgical, autopsy, research and neuropathology tissue
Under supervision, perform special stains according to standardized procedures
Maintain all equipment and instruments
Demonstrate work to help onboard others
Mix and maintain all solutions including stains and special fixatives
Maintain and record all QC, CAP, QA instrument function and maintenance records
Maintain a current inventory of all reagents and supplies
Adhere to Standard Work for all job duties and report deviations for correction; participate in data collection and quality improvement efforts
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Required Skills and Experience
Vision Near Acuity:
Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less
Depth Perception:
Ability to judge distance and space relationships
Accommodation:
Ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus
Color Vision:
Ability to distinguish and identify different colors necessary to perform job functions
Required Education
Associate’s Degree with coursework in Anatomy, Biology, and/or Chemistry,
or
Bachelor’s Degree program in medical technology, medical laboratory sciences, clinical laboratory sciences, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology
Preferred Certification & Licensure
HT(ASCP) certification preferred
ASCP Certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology)
