Job Summary This residency position involves both learning as well as treating patients. The Physical Therapist Resident will provide direct patient care while adhering to the policies and procedures of UKHC and in accordance with state and federal regulations. This position will perform physical therapy evaluations and render physical therapy treatments following a physician’s order; treat patients with a variety of diagnoses; and perform appropriate documentation in the medical record. This position will be for a one-year Residency term. Once a 12‑month residency has been completed, the program will conclude. New graduates are welcome to apply. Applicants must also have applied for the position through APTA PTCAS.
Responsibilities
Perform physical therapy evaluations and deliver treatments based on physician orders.
Treat patients with various diagnoses in a sports medicine setting.
Document care and treatment in the medical record accurately and timely.
Qualifications
BS in Physical Therapy (Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
Certification eligible in Physical Therapy; Kentucky licensure preferred.
No experience required; new graduates welcome.
Strong sports medicine and manual therapy background.
Critical thinking, basic computer navigation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
Required Education BS in Physical Therapy.
Required Experience No Experience Required.
Required License/Registration/Certification
Certification eligible.
Kentucky licensure preferred.
Physical Requirements The physical requirements of this position include: regularly lifting, pushing, or pulling objects 50 lbs and above; occasional sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods with repetitive motions (e.g., typing); regular risk of back injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials; regular exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens; and occasional exposure to combative/violent people.
Shift Primarily day shift, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Occasional weekend coverage at athletic events.
Salary $62,400–$111,634 per year.
