Job Description Aecom is hiring a

Mid‑level Environmental Compliance Specialist (Environmental Compliance Specialist III)

to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance team. The role is hybrid and can be based in Cincinnati, OH; Fort Collins, CO or Minneapolis, MN. The successful candidate will support clients with monitoring and enforcement of environmental regulations covering solid, hazardous waste storage and disposal, industrial wastewater, storm water, chemical use and management. The position requires excellent written and spoken communication, strong organizational and time‑management skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a project team.

Responsibilities

Deep knowledge of multi‑media environmental compliance regulations and best management practices at local, state and federal levels (Clean Water Act, RCRA, Clean Air Act, etc.).

Interpret, record and analyze data, conduct investigations and compare findings to relevant regulations to ensure compliance.

Work independently to determine and develop approaches to solve environmental compliance problems.

Conduct compliance inspections and audits to assess and review compliance.

Participate in developing corrective measures, procedures and recommendations for best management practices (BMP).

Develop environmental reports, permits and plans (e.g., Tier II/TRI reports, NPDES SwPP/SwPPPs, RCRA permits, SPCC plans).

Detail oriented with a focus on preparing accurate project deliverables.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements

BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, or similar subject.

4 years of relevant experience in multi‑media environmental compliance (or demonstrated equivalency).

Ability to travel 30% (local and national).

Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of relevant multi‑media environmental compliance experience.

Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes for oil & gas, industrial and high‑tech clients.

Previous experience as an environmental consultant.

Prior experience conducting EHS audits.

Certifications or credentials (e.g., CPEA, CHMM, CSP, ASP) are a plus.

Additional Information Compensation range: $75,000 – $90,000 annually, based on education, experience and location. Hybrid work model with location options in Cincinnati, Fort Collins and Minneapolis.
