Registered Nurse – RN – Geriatric – Senior Progressive Care Saint Joseph Mercy Health System is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Senior Progressive Care unit (3 Lacks) in Grand Rapids, MI.

Shift:

Night Shift, 7 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., 3–12 hour shifts

Position Summary As a Registered Nurse in our high‑acuity 32‑bed, all‑private bed acute care unit, you will deliver evidence‑based, individualized care to patients 65 and older. The unit serves patients on telemetry, cardiac drips, high‑flow oxygen, Bi‑PAP, and other advanced modalities. Rapid deterioration is common, so strong assessment skills and patient advocacy are essential. Our unit operates nurse‑directed care and is a NICHE (Nurses Improving Care Health System Elders) exemplar organization, supporting high standards of elder care through partnerships with geriatricians and long‑term care facilities.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive assessments and develop care plans for older adults.

Administer medications, monitor telemetry, and manage complex care needs.

Advocate for patients’ preferences and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Provide timely, high‑quality nursing care in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited nursing school and program.

Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

If holding an ADN in Grand Rapids, enrollment in a BSN program within 6 months of hire and completion within 4 years of hire.

Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
