Mental Health Professional I

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Berkeley Community Mental Health Center, 403 Stoney Landing Road, Moncks Corner, SC 29461.

As the Mental Health Professional I, under limited supervision, you will provide advanced mental health services to inmates of Hill‑Finklea Detention Center (HFDC) and patients of BCMHC.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I:

Provide comprehensive and advance level of mental health services to inmates of HFDC as an embedded clinician.

Provide advanced level crisis management services in accordance with Center policies and procedures. Complete and submit clinical documentation that is clear, concise and focuses on client driven care.

Complete documentation of pertinent clinical/other information in accordance with QA/QI standards, policies, and procedures.

Adhere to Center, OMH, and State Corporate Compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.

Perform the functions of a Center Mental Health Treatment Provider in an efficient manner. Attend a daily schedule of client appointments, ensure clients are seen as often as needed, and address with client barriers to seeking services at BCMHC.

Participate in activities promoting ongoing professional development and training.

This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the applicable position.

Qualifications

A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.

Additional Requirements

In addition to the master's degree in guidance, counseling, social sciences or related field, have two (2) years of experience in a clinical counseling program.

In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience

providing direct patient care . This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post‑graduate clinical experience. Please be sure to provide specific clinical activities on your application and/or resume.

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Post‑hire, employees must:

Have advanced knowledge/skills to conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, formulate diagnoses and initiate treatment plans.

Function in a Community Mental Health (CMH) setting.

Be able to work with a multi-disciplinary team and liaison with community.

Communicate effectively, orally, and in writing.

This position is considered essential and may be called back during crisis/disasters/emergencies.
