Job Description:
Assesses patients' needs and resolves potential problems or conflicts, treating patients in a timely and courteous manner. Verifies the physician’s prescription and treatment parameters daily to ensure accurate treatment in accordance with the prescription and treatment plan. Identifies the treatment volume and positions the patient consistently and reproducibly. Performs all aspects of CT Simulation, including administering contrast agents during simulation localization under the direction of the physician or non-physician practitioner. Evaluates prescribed imaging, makes requested changes within prescribed time period, and documents treatment information in the patient electronic health record (EHR). Reviews all new starts for consistency prior to treatment, checking blocks, simulation documents, dose calculation sheets, prescriptions, field photos, and verifying patient positioning and field orientation. Represents the department at meetings as necessary, working with the site leader to monitor patient and staff satisfaction surveys and keeping radiation therapists informed of pertinent information. Provides supervised education experiences for students that fulfill the curriculum requirements of the academic institution. Participates in after-hours on-call coverage and maintains competency with after-hours treatment coverage. Coordinates schedules and maintains a timely and efficient flow within the treatment schedule, monitoring labor and productivity, and adjusting staffing schedules as needed. Serves as a mentor by coaching, evaluating, counseling, and educating team members, providing direct daily supervision to radiation therapists. Performs morning quality assurance on the treatment unit, assessing equipment operation according to physics policy and addressing malfunctions immediately. Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
High School Graduate or equivalent (Required)
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists – Computed Tomography (ARRT-CT) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
Basic Life Support – CPR Certificate (BLS) – RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement
Registered Technologist – Magnetic Resonance Imaging (R.T.(MR)ARRT)) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
Registered Technologist – Radiography (R.T.(R)(ARRT)) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
