Overview Performs duties under the direction or supervision of a licensed medical practitioner or a registered nurse. Responsible for conducting a focused assessment of the patient to include vital signs and gathering data, implementing established plans of care, and evaluating effectiveness of treatments in the medical practice setting. May float to other practices within the region providing operational support as needed.
What You Will Do
Accurately complete all required clinical documentation consistently per Riverside Medical Group standards, maintaining documentation for quality assurance including point of care testing, medication logs, and annual wellness visits. Work with providers to assure care gaps are routinely addressed with each patient. Documentation is accurate, legible, and completed the same day. Knowledgeable and skillful in lab functions and lab proficiency testing.
Maintain excellent clinical competency by adhering to the standard clinical expectations for Riverside Medical Group. Update, verify, and maintain patient records by properly interviewing the patient and confirming purpose of visit. Prepare patient for examination by obtaining vital signs proficiently, including manual vital signs when mechanical devices are not available. Prepare and sanitize exam rooms before and after patient appointments. Administer medications and vaccines under the supervision of a physician. Assist with processing prescription refill requests for approval and forwarding to pharmacies. Maintain medical inventory of supplies and keep exam rooms stocked appropriately. Keep necessary equipment in operating order and facilitate preventive maintenance when needed. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including scope of practice, HIPAA, and OSHA standards. Complete all required competencies and education to maintain skill level to provide safe patient care.
Provide patient education as needed and educate patients about the medications prescribed for them. Demonstrate positive patient care by explaining the importance of completing registration and patient medical history forms and how it relates to their care at our facility. Provide patient follow up with a sense of urgency regarding lab calls, patient phone calls, prescription fills and refills, referrals and appointment scheduling.
Answer telephone calls from patients, pharmacies, physicians, vendors, etc. by close of business. Communicate lab/pathology results and schedule additional tests per provider order.
Ensure proper reimbursement from insurance companies by performing pre‑authorization for prescription drugs, procedures, and patient tests.
Demonstrate the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with a multi‑disciplinary team to support patient care needs. Actively participate in multi‑disciplinary team meetings as assigned.
Qualifications Education
Program graduate, Licensed Practical Nurse (Required)
Experience
1 year nursing experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire (Required)
CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire (Required)
