Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and close consultation with the Deputy Mental Health Director, administer and provide program management of the institution’s Mental Health Department.
Oversee personnel, staffing, resources, policies, and operations related to mental health services.
Collaborate with other governmental agencies, health‑care partners, and community organizations to support successful reintegration of inmates.
Maintain cooperative working relationships within the department and promote public safety through education, treatment, and restorative justice programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology.
Earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an institution meeting the criteria of Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California’s Business and Professions Code.
Either:
At least two years of experience as a licensed Psychologist in the Department of Corrections
or
At least three years of experience as a licensed Psychologist in a forensic setting such as a local jail or community‑based forensic treatment unit.
Pass the required examination on CalCareers before applying for the position.
Benefits & Incentives
Eligible for a $10,000 one‑time recruitment and retention stipend, subject to eligibility criteria.
Eligible for a monthly recruitment and retention differential totaling up to $20,000 during the first year of employment.
Participation in the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025 with a 3% base‑salary reduction and 5 hours of leave credits monthly through June 2027.
