Location: RWJ - Hamilton Department: Lab RWJHH Pay Range: $38.06 - $52.38 per hour Shift: Day Status: Per Diem
Job Overview Cytologist will be present in the operating room to provide onsite adequacy of FNAs, EBUS, and EUS procedures when needed. Cytologist will complete cytological screening of Non‑GYN and GYN cases.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Cytotechnology or equivalent
Graduate from an approved School of Medical Technology
Preferred:
Six years' working experience
Certifications and Licenses Required
CT certification from ASCP
Scheduling Requirements
Day shift
Per Diem
Essential Functions
Assists in the training of new employees and students
Works on special projects as requested by the Director
Segregates laboratory wastes according to established policies
Verifies orders from scripts and orders procedures in LIS
Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs instruments and lab equipment, if possible
Assists in clerical duties as needed
Assumes responsibility for procedural and system controls, problem‑solving, teaching and supervision of the department
Acts as coach/cheerleader in the department in building consensus and staff motivation to exceed departmental and hospital goals
Criteria: slides screened within 24 hours of collection M-F
Overall TAT to show > 90 percent of cases reported within 72 hours of collection
Produces accurate medical diagnostic interpretations, manually and with instrumentation within departmental timelines in an efficient and cost‑effective manner
Monitors results for unusual, abnormal or unreasonable results and performs confirmatory testing and troubleshooting per departmental procedures and best practices with directorial oversight
Performs repairs, maintenance, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on lab instruments and equipment with directorial oversight per departmental and manufacturers specifications
Acts as key operator for equipment as needed
Reviews, updates and corrects all QC, QA, PM and repair records required by accreditation agencies -CAP, AABB, JC and State of New Jersey- to ensure full compliance, accreditation and minimal deficiencies cited during inspections
CAP inspection with less than 2 phase II deficiencies
