RN - OR & PRE-OP/PACU - FULL TIME

Description
Responsible for the planning, executing, directing and evaluating nursing care for surgical patients in the pre‑operative and post‑operative periods, including preparation, organization of equipment, and environment.
Participates in patient preparation for surgery, performs pre‑admission assessment (telephone or in person), provides pre‑instruction, and ensures all data is in the patient’s record prior to admission or procedural intervention.
Maintains communication with reception and OR/Endoscopic rooms to guarantee efficient patient movement; assists with medication preparation for blocks and/or local injections and follows admission protocols in the pre‑op area.
Receives patients from OR/Endoscopic rooms and assesses condition on admission and discharge, documenting on PACU records.
Observes and monitors post‑op/procedure patients by taking vital signs, EKG, and documenting progress while in PACU.
Administers medications, IVs, and treatments; maintains dispensing records; observes patient reactions and acts appropriately to adverse reactions.
Performs or assists physicians with sterile and non‑sterile dressing changes and other requested procedures.
Ensures patients are not left alone in Recovery Areas; provides post‑op instruction summary and discharge instructions.
Schedules follow‑up appointments before discharge; provides immediate respiratory assistance (AMBU bag, airway, endotracheal tube), administers CPR, assists with defibrillation, and performs venipuncture in emergencies.
Knows and maintains Code Blue/crash cart; recognizes safety precautions and equipment; assists in restocking unit and keeps Recovery Area comfortable, orderly, and safe.
Performs other duties as deemed necessary.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited School of Registered Nursing.
Active Florida RN license.
Minimum of one (1) year experience in PACU or Critical Care.
Current CPR, ACLS, and PALC certification.
