Responsibilities

Provides rapid crisis intervention and assessment to individuals via face‑to‑face or telephone when calls come into Access to Care or the Intensive Care Coordinator

Recognizes the elements of a crisis state and uses deescalation techniques to resolve the situation

Collaborates with Access to Care as needed and maintains regular contact with other AltaPointe programs to optimize dispositions and outcomes

Leads the initiation and implementation of the Child/Adolescent Crisis Response Team services and delivers services in the community, consumers’ homes, etc.

Determines the level of response needed in crisis situations and provides appropriate follow‑up, referrals, and safety plans to families

Travels to consumers’ homes to ensure medication compliance and uses appropriate communication methods with treatment teams

Assists in securing emergency medical services or law enforcement services when required and provides effective clinical assessment of the consumer

Utilizes assessment data to support a DSM‑5 diagnosis, formulates an appropriate treatment plan, and offers individual, group, and family therapy using basic therapeutic models

Collaborates with the treatment team, law enforcement, emergency medical services, court personnel, and other external sources in clinical service delivery

Advocates on behalf of the consumer to secure community resources, evaluates for discharge planning or movement to a less restrictive environment, and adheres to professional code of ethics

Qualifications

Master’s degree in a mental health discipline with at least 2 years of experience working with psychiatric disorders or crisis situations

Knowledge of child/adolescent specialty to be attained within six months of employment, including:

Psychiatric disorders in the child/adolescent population

Basic understanding of addiction for referral purposesCultural diversity and behavior management

Crisis intervention and non‑violent crisis intervention practices

Psychiatric rehabilitation principles and educational methods for children/adolescents with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders

AltaPointe services, continuum of care, and appropriate services codes and billing procedures

Community resources

Supervision and Consultation

Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed, accepts suggestions for improvement, and actively works to enhance clinical skills

Clinical Record Keeping

Documents in a timely fashion per AltaPointe policy, learns and utilizes the Avatar electronic health record appropriately, and documents in detail the resolutions of crisis situations with linkage to appropriate follow‑up sources
