Overview

The therapist leads collaboration among an interdisciplinary team to develop, coordinate, and facilitate direct social services interventions for patients assigned to their caseload and their support systems. The therapist uses empirically supported therapeutic techniques to aid stabilization and recovery of individuals with mental and behavioral health concerns. The therapist creates a safe and supportive environment to help patients gain insight into thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and work toward their goals. The Therapist may perform other duties as directed to support direct patient care and system initiatives. The Therapist works in an acute care setting that includes inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and/or intensive outpatient services. Job Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions to address patients\' specific needs and goals. Assess patients\' needs through comprehensive assessments to identify mental health concerns, strengths, and challenges. Develop individualized treatment plans and provide guidance in implementing clinical interventions, including facilitating treatment team meetings. Provide counseling and support using evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help patients manage symptoms and improve overall well-being in sessions and in the milieu as needed. Educate patients about their mental health and/or substance use condition, self-care strategies, and treatment options to support engagement and aftercare planning. Document patient progress with detailed records of therapy sessions, progress toward goals, and interventions; complete documentation within required timelines. Collaborate with other professionals (internally and externally) to coordinate care and ensure optimal outcomes. Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality. Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated on current research and best practices. Report and document suspected cases of physical, sexual abuse and/or neglect according to state law and organizational policy. Demonstrate professional conduct and an interdisciplinary approach; communicate clearly; accept feedback for development. Support changes in staffing or scheduling as program and patient care needs require. Participate in clinical initiatives, projects, and activities to support system-wide continuous improvement. Demonstrate understanding of Joint Commission, state, and other regulatory agency compliance requirements. Promote patient safety and facility safety. Performs other duties as assigned, including maintaining knowledge of department processes and participating in committees or work groups as determined by management. Education & Experience

Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited program; experience in health care and psychiatric settings preferred. At minimum, in-training licensure such as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-IT), Marriage and Family Therapist Training License (MFT-TL), Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW), or equivalent in the practicing state. If required for the program, SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC credentials in Wisconsin, or a state-appropriate substance use credential. Working knowledge of therapeutic interventions and techniques for all age groups and understanding of human growth and behavior. Required On-the-Job Training

Compliance with Residential Care Center (RCC) and Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF) where applicable. American Heart Association CPR certification within 30 days of hire; bi-annual re-certification required. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training within 60 days of hire/transfer; annual re-certification required. Attend all mandatory in-services and position-relevant training. Meet license-related educational and regulatory requirements for the program/unit. For residential programs, hold a current and active driver’s license in good standing (preferred for all levels of care).
