Own the full accounting cycle for a growing manufacturing operation. Your mandate is to tighten the month-end close, build robust accrual processes, drive disciplined treasury management, and lay the groundwork for a future standard-costing environment—delivering accurate, decision-ready financials every month.
Key Responsibilities Month-End Close
Drive a disciplined ≤ 5-day close; prepare and review all journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.
Accrual Accuracy
Establish policies for inventory, payroll, rebate, warranty, freight, and other key accruals to eliminate timing distortions.
Treasury Management
Own daily cash positioning and liquidity planning. Prepare, update, and explain a rolling 13-week cash-flow forecast. Optimize working-capital cycles (AR/AP) and manage banking relationships, debt compliance, and covenant reporting.
Reconciliations
Perform and review daily cash reconciliations and monthly balance-sheet account recs (inventory, fixed assets, AP, AR, prepaids, accruals, loans).
Cost & Inventory Accounting
Map current products, routing, and BOM data. Lead design and rollout of a standard-cost framework (labor, overhead, materials). Oversee cycle counts and annual physical inventories; reconcile and explain variances. Own inventory valuation and costing methodology; analyze purchase-price, usage, and manufacturing variances.
Tax
File all quarterly payroll tax returns, remit taxes due, file year end payroll tax returns, W2’s, 1099’s, and 1095/1096’s.
Process Improvement & Controls
Document workflows, strengthen internal controls, and reduce close-cycle time.
Reporting & Analysis
Produce accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash-flow statements; supply variance analysis and management commentary.
Audit & Compliance
Serve as primary contact for external auditors; ensure US GAAP compliance and support future audit readiness.
ERP & Systems
Own the chart of accounts, item masters, and cost rolls in the ERP.
Team Leadership
Work in collaboration with office a plant leadership.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
6+ years progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a discrete- or process-manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated success shortening month-end close, implementing rigorous balance-sheet reconciliations, and managing cash-flow forecasting.
Strong grasp of US GAAP, inventory/cost accounting, and treasury best practices.
Hands-on ERP experience (Epicor, Sage, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) – company is currently using Sage 100.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, and Power Query) and Crystal Report Writing.
Ability to work on-site in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or active pursuit of licensure.
Prior leadership of a standard-cost rollout or major cost-system revision.
Experience automating close tasks or leveraging BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).

Close timeline reduced to ≤ 5 business days with zero material post-close adjustments.
100% on-time reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts every month.
