Summary
Assists customers with frame selection, fits and dispenses frames. Utilizes technical information to interpret prescriptions and guides customers on optical products and services.
Pay Class and Pay Pay Class:
Full Time Pay:
$24.50 – $36.75 per hour
Essential Responsibilities
Assist each customer in frame and lens selection meeting social distance requirements.
Ensure compliance with cleaning protocols: frequent handwashing, no shaking hands, cover nose and mouth while coughing or sneezing, avoid touching eyes/nose/mouth with unwashed hands.
Provide accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections and services.
Inform customers covered by Third‑Party insurance of benefits and any additional charges not covered by coverage.
Utilize the SERVE sales process to identify customer needs and recommend proper lenses based on patient needs. Demonstrate all available tools.
Analyze and interpret prescriptions. Communicate with Lab and Optometrist to ensure accuracy.
Sell, fit and dispense frames and accessories using accurate measurements, verification of ordered products and adjustments in accordance with the Eyewear Presentation.
Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
Accurate pricing for retail customers.
Maintain license requirements per State Guidelines.
Provide feedback and guidance to Apprentice Opticians.
Adhere to privacy, confidentiality and proprietary company policies and procedures (HIPAA).
Participate in all training and educational activities necessary to fulfill departmental goals and professional affiliations.
Diligently maintain cleanliness of all equipment and workstations daily.
As required by changing business needs, complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience & Background
Must have and maintain applicable state licensure for ophthalmic dispensing.
Knowledge and demonstrated abilities in explaining optical products, services, prescription analysis and fitting/dispensing.
Language Skills
Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Write simple correspondence.
Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and associates.
Mathematical Skills
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and percentages.
Apply basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands Required to stand, use hands and fingers to handle, feel, pick or pinch, talk or hear most of the time. Occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, lift and move up to 20 pounds.

Union Position Compensation Position provides competitive pay and benefits. Minimum pay rate $24.50 per hour plus incentive. Starting pay may vary to a maximum of $36.75 per hour. Incentive pay, wage upgrades, and overtime opportunities also available.
