JR107279## **Veterinary Technician Job Description**### **Position Summary**The Veterinary Technician supports veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical care to patients while providing exceptional service to clients. This role requires strong technical skills, compassion for animals, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.### **Key Responsibilities*** Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures* Prepare patients for surgery, monitor anesthesia and recovery* Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal, cytology)* Perform diagnostic tests and accurately record results* Administer medications and vaccines as directed* Take and develop radiographs following safety protocols* Maintain accurate and thorough medical records* Educate clients on treatment plans, medications, nutrition, and preventive care* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment* Properly restrain animals with care and professionalism* Assist with inventory management and equipment maintenance* Collaborate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff### **Qualifications:*** Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technician program (preferred)* Licensed/Registered/Certified Veterinary Technician (preferred / as required by state law) Relevant work experience will be considered* Previous clinical experience in a veterinary setting required* Proficient in basic computer skills and practice management software### **Skills & Competencies*** Strong animal handling and patient care skills* Excellent communication and client education abilities* Attention to detail and strong organizational skills* Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment* Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented* Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies### **Physical Requirements*** Ability to stand for extended periods* Lift and carry up to 40–50 pounds with assistance as needed* Perform repetitive tasks including bending, kneeling, and reaching### **Work Environment*** Fast-paced veterinary hospital or clinic* Exposure to animals, zoonotic diseases, and medical equipment* May include evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts### **Benefits (if applicable)*** Competitive compensation* Health, dental, and vision insurance* Retirement Savings Plans* Paid time off and holidays* Continuing education allowance* Employee pet care discountsAt AmeriVet, we’re committed to your growth, development, well-being, and success.
