LSC-Houston North Fairbanks is located at Highway 290 and West Little York Road, near the Sam Houston Tollway. The Fairbanks location provides a variety of services to students including advising, registration, counseling, and tutoring. Academic programs include basic transfer courses, developmental studies, and English for Speakers of Other Languages.

PLEASE NOTE - although location on posting is listed as Houston North Fairbanks, hire could be assigned and work at any/all of the four Houston North locations, as needed. Locations include Houston North Greenspoint, Houston North Victory, Houston North Fairbanks, and Houston North Fallbrook.

Job Description Purpose and Scope The Part-time Specialist III, Care Center performs standard duties to assist the department in providing wraparound services for students. This position serves as a primary point of contact for general information to students, faculty, and staff. A vital aspect of the role is maintaining a general understanding of the policies, processes, and procedures of the numerous services offered. The PT Specialist III contributes to the department in multiple ways, including maintaining the Care Center services including record keeping and service distribution, which are essential for tracking purposes.

Essential Job Functions

Provide essential customer service to all individuals seeking assistance in the Care Center while maintaining confidentiality

Handle incoming calls and inquiries for the Care Center

Maintain a thorough understanding of the most current policies and standard operating procedures for the Care Center

Sort, organize and log donated items and other donations

Under direct supervision, manage inventory, stock organization and rotation (expiration date tracking)

Collects needed information from participants via designated tracking system

Provide timely updates and operational insights to leadership (Dean) as needed

Assist with Care Center events

Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Physical Abilities Position may involve some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or canned goods. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Schedule and Conditions

Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment

Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position

Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

High-level of computer proficiency

Salary Hourly Pay Rate is $15.60
