Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor‑Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
position.
Primary Purpose of Position:
The School of Nursing within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences seeks an assistant/associate professor focused on Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. The primary purpose is to provide student‑centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate‑level courses, student advising, mentoring, recruitment, curriculum development, and participation in program assessment and accreditation procedures.
Responsibilities:
Incorporate modern pedagogical skills in teaching nursing courses at undergraduate and graduate levels in psychiatric mental health nursing.
Supervise and support student projects for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.
Provide service to the School of Nursing, the college, university, and appropriate community and professional organizations.
Engage in program assessment and accreditation‑related procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
Applicant must hold a doctoral degree in nursing.
Must hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina or be eligible to obtain one.
Must hold a national certification as a Certified Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Demonstrated pedagogical skills to teach in areas relevant to PMHNP.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs.
Three years of clinical experience related to psychiatric mental health.
Certified Nurse Educator.
Skills with Blackboard LMS, Banner INB, and Microsoft Office.
