Chemistry Adjunct Instructor – Concordia University, Nebraska (Seward, NE)
Overview Concordia University of the Lutheran Church‑Missouri Synod seeks a part‑time adjunct instructor to teach in‑person chemistry courses. The role includes laboratory and lecture teaching, curriculum support, and student mentorship.
Position Description Teach laboratory sections in introductory, general, and/or organic chemistry. Select lecture sections may also be available. Classes are face‑to‑face, primarily during the regular school day.
Job Duties
Teach laboratory sections in introductory, general, and/or organic chemistry.
Teach lecture sections in introductory and/or general chemistry (as needed).
Collaborate with department chair to maintain curriculum integrity.
Facilitate course content in accordance with stated objectives and teaching models.
Maintain high standards of excellence in face‑to‑face formats.
Model professional interactions and serve as a role model for students.
Facilitate individual and group learning goals.
Demonstrate competency of theoretical knowledge in area(s) of expertise.
Assess, evaluate, and monitor student progress.
Provide timely feedback to students.
Record and maintain accurate class records.
Participate in course content meetings as available.
Provide the department chair with ongoing data related to student performance.
Demonstrate behaviors consistent with a practicing professional.
Qualifications
Ability to establish working relationships with students, peers, faculty, admin staff, and the community.
Successful and innovative teaching experience.
Ability to use technology to support all aspects of teaching.
Active Christian; preference given to Lutheran Church‑Missouri Synod members.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field.
College‑level teaching experience preferred.
Professional experience in the subject area preferred.
Time Commitment
Courses taught during Fall 2025 and/or Spring 2026 semesters; contract may be renewed.
Lab sections meet once a week for 1 or 3 hours; lecture sections 2–3 times per week.
Additional time for preparation, grading, and student questions expected.
