Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department/Med-Surg position requiring 3 years of ER and Med-Surg experience and ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in a Critical Access Hospital with a combined Emergency Department and Med-Surg unit
Acute care setting with 10 patient rooms, averaging 4 patients per day
Patients include med/surg, outpatient, and emergency department cases
Nurse-to-patient ratio averages 1:2 or 1:3, with a maximum of 1:6
Equipment includes EPIC EMR, Philips central monitor/telemetry, and Lifepak 15
Nights, 12-hour shifts with every other weekend required
Floating daily between med/surg, outpatient, and emergency department as part of minimum staffing of 2 RNs and typically a PCT or LPN
Orientation tailored to traveler needs, including day and night shadow shifts
RNs are expected to be able to work in the ER and cover as charge nurse when needed
RNs perform procedures such as IV starts and foley catheter insertion
Team structure includes 2 RNs with support from a PCT or LPN
Navy scrubs required
Travelers who previously worked for Sanford Health must have an employment gap of at least 6 months prior to consideration
Local candidates within 80 miles are accepted but are eligible for a pay adjustment
Requirements
Active SD or Compact RN license
Minimum 3 years of RN experience, including at least 2 years in ER and 2 years in Med-Surg
Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
EPIC EMR experience preferred
Critical Access Hospital experience preferred but not required
