Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg, Tele, and PCU Float Pool position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and night shift availability.
Responsibilities
Work in the acute care setting as part of the Med/Surg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool
Float coverage includes MedSurg, Tele, and PCU units across both the East and West campuses, with potential to care for inpatients holding in the ED
Care settings include stepdown and med/surg pods with double occupancy; West campus has a 14-bed stepdown and 95-bed Med/Surg Tele divided into 4 areas
Patient population includes geriatric, orthopedic, post-cardiac procedure, and stepdown cardiac patients
Nurse-to-patient ratios: PCU 1:4, Med/Surg Tele 1:5-6
Night shift 12-hour assignments (7p-7a) with every other weekend required
First to float policy for travelers; floating may occur between campuses (20-25 minutes apart)
Schedule is created by staffing office and published 6 weeks out for 4 weeks at a time
No call or standby required
Uses Cerner EMR; experience preferred
Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin drip titration required
CPAP/BiPAP and heated high flow therapy used in PCU; CPAP/BiPAP at night in Med/Surg
Monitor techs support Tele and PCU; nurses must interpret rhythms
Primary duties include managing patient care across Med/Surg, Tele, and PCU units, including drip titration and rhythm monitoring
Will receive unit-specific orientation: 8-hour general hospital orientation, plus 12-hour shifts each for West MedTele and PCU; East campus orientation is similar
Solid color professional scrubs required; will transition to navy scrubs per policy
Holiday coverage is part of staff rotation, including Christmas
Communication about unit assignments provided via text message approximately 2 hours before shift start
Nurse aides are utilized throughout all settings to support care
First time travelers are considered for this role
Requirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending license not accepted
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in a PCU setting
Experience titrating cardiac and critical drips as listed
Successful completion of dysrhythmia exam (minimum score 80%) prior to contract signing; max 2 attempts allowed
Ability to interpret ECG/telemetry strips required Benefits
