Patient Access Associate - Outpatient

Hours:

Full Time, 8:30am-5:00 pm Monday thru Friday

Location:

Employee will primarily work in the main hospital but may float between the Monroe Ambulatory Surgical Center and Breast Health Center (East Windsor).

Summary

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for computerized patient registration including obtainment and verification of all required demographic and insurance information and the collection of payments at the Time of Service to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. They will also be responsible for the collection of payments at the Time of Service

Promote excellent customer service and maintain the organization’s Be Standards. In addition, they will have the ability to collaborate with other departments to ensure positive patient outcomes and care

Responsibilities

Greets patient with a positive and professional attitude and initiates registration process. Selects the correct patient through properly entering the required fields within the Penn Chart ADT system to ensure patient safety and creates visits appropriately in the Penn Chart ADT system.

Performs validation on assigned third party accounts for all outpatients for Radiation Oncology, OP Infusion, Walk-in EKG and X-rays. Validation includes but is not limited to verifying eligibility, obtaining benefits, ensuring pre-certification and/or authorization /referral requirements to have been completed. Refers patient to Medicaid Screener or Financial Counselor as needed.

Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to changing work environment. Demonstrates willingness to meet the needs of departmental operations effectively as an individual and Team Member

Prints claims – when necessary, logs into Claim Agent and reprints claims for submission.

Collects Time of Service (TOS) and Point of Service (POS) Payments according to policy. If necessary, refers patient to Financial Counselor for assistance and/or refers patients for Medicaid Assistance. Ensures ABN is reviewed with patients, and signed document is scanned into Media Manager.

Processes correspondence from insurance carriers, case management and other areas within one business day of receipt.

Reviews Treatment Plan to ensure appropriate CPT codes are captured.

Responsible for making corrections to registration errors displayed on Patient and Candidate for Billing (CFB) and denial work queues.

Responsible for daily monitoring of Penn Chart Cash drawers.

Schedule appointments for walk-in procedures such as Labs, EKG's and X-rays

Monitors assigned PMPH Patient Work queues to ensure timely reimbursement from insurance carriers

Assigns and enters ICD codes into the ADT system as appropriate with 95% accuracy. Ensures that the appropriate signatures are obtained to meet regulatory requirements.

Performs all other duties as assigned

Education or Equivalent Experience

H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)

Two years of related experience in a healthcare setting. Previous hospital or physician office registration experience (preferred)

Salary Range:

$17.05 - $26.44/Hourly
