RN Staff Nurse (Nights) – T11 Trauma, UPMC Altoona

Shift Details
Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (36 hours/week)
Rotation: 9 full‑time night shifts with every other weekend/holiday rotation.
Union: SEIU
Compensation & Benefits
Base Pay: $31.50 per hour (BSN) / $30.00 per hour (non‑BSN)
Shift Differential: $2.00 + $2.00 additional if eligible for Night Program.
Sign‑On Bonus – $20,000 for 1+ years experience, $15,000 for
Loan Repayment – $15,000 over 3 years (eligible nursing graduates).
Night Program – additional $2/hour for qualified RN after 6 months experience and orientation completion.
Purpose & Responsibilities
Patient Care
– Provide direct care, administer medications and IV therapy, assess/reassess patients, develop care plans, coordinate with community agencies.
Team Communication
– Participate in team discussions, use Bed Management System, Alpha, CPOE.
Education & Leadership
– Teach patients/families, contribute to staff education, offer guidance to team members.
Safety & Compliance
– Adhere to universal precautions and occupational exposure policies, maintain competency, complete annual validation.
Qualifications None (no required experience) but:
Valid RN license in Pennsylvania (or multistate license under NLC).
Completion of Nursing Department orientation and probationary period.
CPR / BLS certification (AHA standards within 30 days of hire).
NIH Stroke Scale, Act 34 compliance.
Licensure, Certifications, & Clearances
CPR required within 30 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
NIH Stroke Scale (NIH).
Registered Nurse (RN).
Act 34.
Current state licensure or NLC multistate license as applicable.
