Work Locations SRT nurses must be willing to float between UNC REX Raleigh and UNC REX Holly Springs campuses. Daily assignments are based on the staffing needs of both facilities.
Role Overview This position is ideal for nurses with
Intermediate Care
and
Critical Care (ICU)
experience. Initially, teammates will work primarily in one of the list areas below. After six months, and based on departmental needs, nurses may also be trained to work in other areas.

Shift & Schedule Requirements
Full‑time night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Minimum 36 hours/week (three 12‑hour shifts per week)
Work at least four 12‑hour weekend shifts per 6‑week period
Work two official and one unofficial holiday each year
Holiday scheduling is determined by a rotating holiday track at the time of hire to ensure fairness and unit coverage

Summary Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process on the Rex Staffing Response Team.
Responsibilities
Education – Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self; attend education programs; use patient education materials; assess readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers.
Evaluation of Care – Identify expected patient outcomes; seek guidance as needed in revising the plan of care; participate in interdisciplinary discussions; communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
Implementation – Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems; perform bedside point‑of‑care testing; utilize organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures; organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs; consult with appropriate resources in a timely fashion for complex care issues.
Leadership – Develop goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations; achieve goals within identified time frame; participate in development of unit goals and performance improvement; promote cost‑effective care; give feedback to co‑workers; promote a safe, clean, and secure environment.
Patient Assessment – Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities; synthesize assessment data; anticipate discharge needs; develop relationships with families.
Planning – Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care; use multidisciplinary resources; prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems.
Research – Read journals with applicable studies or articles; bring ideas and questions to staff for assessment of applicability.

Education Requirements
Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
Professional Experience Requirements
One (1) year of nursing experience.
