Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in a Level I Trauma Center with MI RN licensure required and significant trauma experience.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma, Stroke, and Heart Center with a Pediatric Emergency Department
High patient ratios are common, typically 1:5-6, but may reach up to 8 during high census or holidays
12-hour night shifts (19:00–07:30), three shifts per week
Weekend work required, with 3 weekends (Friday through Sunday) scheduled per 4-week cycle; could be scheduled one, two, or all three days per weekend
Float to Pediatrics may be required
No on-call duties
Role includes rapid assessment and care of trauma, cardiac, neurological, and pediatric emergency patients
Must be willing to work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), with a maximum of one holiday off per assignment
All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of application; no additional RTO will be approved later
RTO not allowed during 11/28-11/30, 12/19-12/21, and 12/26-12/28
Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
Returning employees must wait 12 months before returning
Initial Epic training will be provided during orientation
Testing and modules required for pre-employment onboarding
Requirements
Active, unencumbered MI RN license required by start date (Compact licenses not accepted)
Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
Certifications required: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS, TNCC, NIH
ENPC strongly preferred
Demonstrated ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
Epic EMR experience required
Must provide proof of high school level education
Experience in IV and procedural sedation and triage preferred
First time travelers considered
