NSB Omega is searching for a Laboratory Technician for our Client in Quintana, TX. As a partner of the Client's team, contribute positively and assist in the development of the organization, which embraces a commitment for safety and environmental best practice, continuous improvement, and teamwork. Obtain frequent samples and analyze all incoming and outgoing LNG/Natural Gas at Stratton Ridge, Docks, Pre‑Treatment, Liquification, Underground Storage, and Storage & Trucking facilities. Report the results to the Process Engineer/Gas Controller. In addition to natural gas analysis, the lab technician will also sample and analyze rain water and process water contained in the process area and will report these results to the Regulatory Group. Operate and maintain all instruments required to run these analyses. In addition to routine analysis, this position will coordinate with Operations and Maintenance for non‑routine analysis for troubleshooting and/or safety purposes.
Assignment Description Essential Functions & Duties/Responsibilities
Responsible for all laboratory analyses, sampling, record keeping, and reporting
Operate and maintain online and laboratory gas chromatographs and other various meters
Analyze LNG received, various in‑process samples, and outgoing products for inventory management and compliance with specifications
Obtain hydrocarbon and/or water samples
Maintain product samples as required by customer agreements
Coordinate any required third‑party laboratory services
Maintain detailed laboratory records by hardcopy, LIMS, and Content Server
Participate in audits required for ISO certification and Regulatory Agencies
Monitor and maintain laboratory consumables, including bottle gas inventory for laboratory and online analyzers
Work with surveyors/inspectors for product ships
Write and/or review laboratory procedures
Maintain and provide accurate analyses required by facility LTAs and governmental regulations
Coordinate Laboratory waste pick up
Analyze Dew Point Readings in the field for troubleshooting purposes
Comply with all facility safety, environmental, and health requirements
Complete facility specific training and duties as assigned by site supervision
Attend routine Safety meetings and updates
Assert and follow all Life Saving Rules
Perform other duties as assigned and deemed necessary by facility supervision
Must have the ability to drive a motor vehicle in order to perform the duties required at all FLNG locations
Must be able to work a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule, work scheduled and unscheduled overtime
Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization/security clearance through a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
Key Relationships Internal: Production Planning Manager direct reporting relationship; Operations Shift Supervisor/Operators
Close liaison with regard to product sampling; Regulatory Compliance Officer
Close liaison with regard to sampling, record keeping and compliance reporting; IT Specialists
Close liaison regarding laboratory software integration with other IT applications; HSE Specialist
Close liaison with regard to HSE Policies, training, etc.; Process Engineer/Gas Controller
Close liaison with regard to product analysis and results.
External: Outside laboratories, Contractors/Equipment vendors
HSE Roles And Responsibilities Support the policies, efforts, and programs of the Client’s Health, Safety and Environmental Management System. Actively participate in the HSE Management System Policies. Ensure that HSE concerns are given priority in all activities completed within their area of responsibility. Implement routine inspections to ensure safe operating conditions.
Working Conditions and Physical Expectations
May be required to wear respiratory protective equipment.
Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
Operates in an industrial plant environment.
Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions; possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy weather conditions.
Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
Exposure to constant, or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization/security clearance through a TWIC.
Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.
The employee must be able to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.
Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility.
