Registered Nurse Tier 1 (Union) Psych – Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH)
4 days ago – Be among the first 25 applicants. We are looking for a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care in the psychology department. The RN will collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, offering both physical and psychological support to patients, families, and staff. Supervision of team members and students is also required. Responsibilities
Complete patient assessments, formulate plans of care, oversee implementation, evaluate and adjust plans utilizing critical thinking skills. Perform nursing acts authorized or limited by the board, in accordance with American Nursing Association Standards of Practice or equivalent national standards. Provide care, counseling, health teaching and promotion, and utilize the Teach‑Back methodology to confirm comprehension. Administer medication, intravenous therapy, and prescribed treatments from a licensed prescriber. Supervise, delegate, and follow through on activities related to nursing care. Mentor and precept students, and orient new staff as assigned. Report pertinent information up the command chain to Clinical Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager/House Nurse Coordinator. Participate in teams, committees, or performance‑improvement initiatives. Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, coworkers, and yourself. Participate in discharge planning and transition of care, defining patient needs. Serve as a patient advocate and promptly address patient‑related concerns. Timely document pertinent findings in the medical record. Assist patients with activities of daily living and function as an active team member. Assume responsibility for personnel professional development. Utilize effective communication skills and active listening, demonstrating compassionate and empathetic attitudes. Practice hands‑off communication using SBAR; perform bedside shift reporting with SBAR unless otherwise directed. Act as a positive influence and role model, adhering to professional codes of conduct. Respect dignity and confidentiality of all patient information. Refer to special addendum and Staff Nurse Position Description. Perform other job duties as assigned. Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Nursing (required). Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred). Up to 1 year of experience (preferred). Mastery of problem solving and decision making skills. Mastery of collaboration and teamwork. Mastery of growth mindset (agility and self‑development). Mastery of execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting). Ability to consider relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose most appropriate options. Ability to function in a clinical setting with diverse cultural dynamics among staff and patients. Mastery of knowledge of phases of care transitions and available resources. Mastery of digital literacy skills. Registered Nurse (required). BLS upon hire (required). De‑Escalation Training within 6 months of hire (required). Seniority level
