Postdoctoral Associate – Hattori Lab The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology, University of Florida

Classification Minimum Requirements

Requires a doctoral degree in relevant fields (e.g. neuroscience, biology, psychology, computer science). A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of Dr. Hattori.

Job Description

The Hattori lab in the Department of Neuroscience at the Institute is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate. The lab investigates the neural mechanisms underlying reinforcement learning and cognitive processes such as decision making and number sense, and how these processes are impaired in autism spectrum disorder, using custom-built virtual reality behavioral tasks in mice.

Major approaches include large-scale in vivo two-photon imaging of neural activity dynamics, imaging of neuromodulator releases, optogenetics, computational modeling of complex animal behaviors and neural dynamics, and network simulations using AI. Major equipment in the lab includes a two-photon mesoscope optimized for large field-of-view calcium imaging and simultaneous two-photon optogenetics, 16 custom-built training rigs for virtual reality behavior tasks, and 4 fiber photometry microscopes. Successful candidates are expected to lead independent research under the guidance of Dr. Hattori and work collaboratively in the lab.
