Position Summary: University Health is seeking a
Cultural Health Navigator (CHN)
to support equitable healthcare access for refugee, immigrant, and underserved communities. In this vital role, you'll help patients overcome cultural and linguistic barriers by providing
interpretation ,
navigation support , and
resource connection
to ensure access to care and community services.
You’ll play a central role in promoting
health equity , screening for social needs, and guiding patients—particularly Black, Hispanic, and uninsured populations—through healthcare systems with empathy, cultural understanding, and personalized support.
What You'll Need:
Associate’s degree
or equivalent education/experience
Proficient in the
English and Spanish language required
At least
1 year of healthcare interpretation experience
(preferred)
Successful completion of
Bridging the Gap ,
JCCC ,
SBA , or equivalent
Excellent interpersonal and
cross-cultural communication
skills
Deep understanding of immigrant/refugee
cultural, social, and economic needs
Microsoft Office
proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
High empathy, strong self-awareness, and a passion for community impact
Preferred Qualifications:
Community Health Worker
and/or
National Healthcare Interpreter Certification
Proven ability to build trust and navigate diverse community relationships
