This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, 19650 Scipio Lane, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588.

This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

Under limited supervision through clinic director, provide therapeutic services, particularly as a specialist for the adult, children and adolescent outpatient services of the South Strand Satellite Office for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health. Staff will provide and coordinate intakes, aftercare appointments as well as counseling and case management dealing with situations encompassing interpersonal., health and psychosocial factors.

Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional I

Provide therapy, emergency services and case management services to persons experiencing emotional disturbances to include primary assessments and crisis intervention.

Maintain documentation of charts and other records in accordance with State, Federal, Local, OMH, WCMH, Quality Assurance, Corporate Compliance and CARF standards.

Furnish individual, group and family therapy, patient and family education and home visits as needed.

Supply counseling services to clients of WCMH on a full-time basis, 37.5 hours weekly maintaining an average bill time of 810 annualized hours.

Give coordination and consultation services with schools, community agencies and OMH staff on a regular basis.

Education to the community through workshops and presentations in regard to children with mental health issues is conducted on an on-going basis.

Qualifications

A master's degree in guidance, counseling or the social services.

Additional Requirements

Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; ability to see, hear at normal volumes, stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend and climb at least two (2) flights of stairs.

Be able to meet OMH credentialing requirements which include specific graduate coursework including Psychopathology, Psychopathology Diagnostics, Clinical Assessment - Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) and Medical Ethics.

Must be able to show evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience maybe documented as a practicum, internship or post‑graduate clinical experience.

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Licensure preferred - professional counselor or social worker through South Carolina Labor, Licensing, Regulation Board.

Be able to perform case management, interviewing and assessment skills.

Participate in on‑going in‑service training and other educational opportunities in order to maintain and/or acquire necessary skills.
