Physical Therapist II Outpatient Full Time Days Overview Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level I trauma facility with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics. Up to $20,000 Sign-On bonus based on experience.

Responsibilities

Support and assist the development of the Rehabilitation Program area(s) assigned and for the provision of physical therapy services. Rehabilitation Services at Desert Regional Medical Center may include the provision of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and recreational therapy to patients on acute care units, in the Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility, the Skilled Nursing Facility, and/or in the Outpatient Program.

Provide services to orthopedic, medical, medical-surgical, and neuro-rehab populations.

Deliver physical therapy services to infants, children, adolescents, adults and the geriatric population as indicated by qualified therapists.

Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and discharge planning for patients of all ages treated at Desert Regional Medical Center.

Evaluate and implement plan of treatment under physician supervision to ensure timely provision of Physical Therapy services.

Demonstrate competence through direct observation during assessment, treatment and care, considering age-specific criteria and development.

Provide at least one educational in-service to peers annually.

Document accurately and timely within the scope of practice, including evaluations, progress notes, reports, communications with physicians, authorization checks, and appropriate charges.

Attend and participate in care plan, daily, weekly and discharge planning meetings and rounds as required on the unit served.

Ensure documentation complies with The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and California Department of Public Health guidelines.

Serve in a supervisory role to Physical Therapy Assistants/Physical Therapy Aides as required.

Collaborate with peers professionally and meet productivity standards for the primary cost center.

Support other rehabilitation departments as needed to reduce overtime/registry usage.

Provide at least one in-service annually on rehabilitation topics to improve clinical strength and program development.

Promote quality patient care by monitoring and implementing changes through the Performance Improvement Program.

Participate in hospital-wide interdepartmental programs (e.g., hospital-wide competencies and orientations).

Qualifications

Required:

California Physical Therapy license

Documentation of eligibility for valid California Physical Therapy license

Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS

Preferred:

Experience supervising Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy Aides

1 year of experience as a licensed Physical Therapist

Shift Days

Hours 0800 - 1630

Schedule 10 (8) hour shifts per two week pay period. Some weekends required.

Department Specific Duties

Evaluate and implement plan of treatment under physician supervision to ensure timely provision of Physical Therapy services and ensure cost efficiency and quality of rehab services.

Document and communicate effectively regarding patient care, including age-appropriate criteria and treatment needs.

Contribute to care planning, daily/weekly/ discharge meetings, and ensure accurate charting and charges.
