Position Summary The Molecular Oncology Specialist is a senior sales role responsible for driving growth in an assigned territory through new account acquisition and continued development of existing accounts. The role requires strong prospecting, relationship building, and subject‑matter expertise in oncology and molecular profiling.
Job Responsibilities
Sells oncology services and products such as Molecular Intelligence to oncologists.
Provides business solutions to community oncologists through consistent in‑person access.
Analyzes business opportunities and develops strategic sales plans for the assigned territory.
Maintains strong relationships with new and existing clients.
Utilizes oncology market understanding while discussing the healthcare payer environment and its impact on oncology practices.
Provides billing support related to patients, practices, and hospital customers.
Understands IT and its interface with physician office systems; demos technology solutions (Portal, EMR connectivity, TC/PC) and advises on hardware/software to enhance workflow efficiencies.
Advises RBD and Commercial leaders on client or market concerns.
Provides regular visibility to RBD and Commercial leaders on industry trends, best practices, and competitive insights.
Maintains core knowledge of competitive products, services, technology solutions, and reimbursement/billing issues.
Provides post‑sales service to accounts and identifies additional business opportunities.
Maintains open communication with key personnel in assigned accounts and escalates support issues when customer satisfaction is jeopardized.
Maintains all assigned company assets (laptop, PDA, etc.).
Submits all necessary administrative tasks (weekly reports, business plans, expense reports, CRM updates).
Demonstrates knowledge of anatomical pathology, technology solutions, and competitive strategies through training and materials.
Meets all assigned targets and goals set by management.
Provides meeting and trade‑show support as required.
Supports physicians with ordering and interpretation of the CMI platform and QC report quality/accuracy, including PHI access.
Performs other related duties as assigned by RBD and Commercial leaders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
Several successful years selling into the molecular profiling and/or oncology space, not limited to Caris products.
Strong understanding of patient relationship dynamics with physicians and the ability to provide service and technology solutions for pathology needs.
Deep knowledge of oncology therapeutics, surgical oncology, molecular laboratory science, and biomarkers.
Strong working knowledge of billing and reimbursement in the laboratory landscape.
Knowledge of and access to regional hospital systems.
Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; Internet use).
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable vehicle.
Willingness to travel regularly (locally or day trips) to meet clients and prospects.
90% of time will be spent in the field meeting with clients and prospects.
Preferred Qualifications
5‑7+ years of successful oncology sales experience in diagnostics, medical devices, or pharma (product and service).
Familiarity with local pathologists.
Deep relationships with and access to medical and/or surgical oncology specialists.
Required Training
All job‑specific, safety, and compliance training assigned based on job functions.
Physical Demands
Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods.
Capability to lift routine office supplies and use standard office equipment.
Other
Periodic travel and some evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
